Clinton FC Men Crowned Central Coast Kappa Cup Champions

Clinton FC’s Premier Men have claimed the Central Coast Kappa Cup title in a thrilling contest that went the distance 🏆⚽

In an unforgettable clash against Central last night, March 18th, the match was decided by penalties after 120 minutes of intense football, with Clinton emerging victorious 1 (3) – 1 (2) in the shootout.

Intensity from the First Whistle

From the opening whistle, the game delivered intensity, quality, and momentum swings throughout.

After an early stalemate, the match opened up into an end-to-end contest, with both sides enjoying periods of dominance.

Clinton struck first, with Billy Noonan finishing a brilliant low cross from Matt Holzberger, who had been played in by Hunter Horchner. The Greens looked dangerous, but Central responded late to level the match and send it into extra time at a 1-1 draw.

Both sides had chances to seal the game, including missed penalties in regular time, adding to the drama of an already gripping encounter.

Extra Time Drama & A Goalkeeper Masterclass

Extra time saw Clinton create lots of chances - Tighe hit the post, Pistol had several efforts saved or near misses, Spud created space for himself around the box, but couldn't quite get the connection he was looking for.

Another half hour of play still couldn't determine the winner, penalties came and so did the rain to add to the hype of a shootout.

That’s when Keeper Max Rohdmann stepped up.

Producing a remarkable performance, Max saved four penalties in the shootout, adding to an incredible penalty save late in extra time. His stellar performance secured the win and cemented him as both Player of the Match and the difference-maker on the night.

Champions Through Determination

Clinton’s victory was built on resilience, effort and belief. Every player left everything on the field, combining relentless work rate with moments of quality across the pitch.

Alongside Max’s standout performance, key contributions came from players across the team, including strong displays from Cobby and Holzy.

Assistant Coach Jeff Jackson acknowledged the quality of the opposition but believed Clinton were deserving winners based on the chances created and overall performance.
